The Role & Responsibilities

As a Speaking Examiner, you will play a key role in evaluating candidates’ spoken English abilities during formal examinations. This involves more than just listening—it requires active engagement, professional judgment, and consistency. Core responsibilities include:

Conducting Speaking Tests: Administer structured speaking assessments in line with international standards, ensuring a fair and supportive environment for each candidate.
Assessing Candidate Performance: Evaluate fluency, accuracy, pronunciation, and interaction skills while following strict marking guidelines to ensure reliability.
Providing Accurate Scoring: Record scores precisely and consistently, contributing to the validity and credibility of the overall examination process.
Maintaining Examination Standards: Follow ethical practices, uphold confidentiality, and comply with examiner codes of conduct.
Ongoing Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and standardization meetings to maintain assessment quality and stay updated with best practices.

Qualifications

We are looking for examiners who possess both the technical expertise and professional mindset required for this role. Key qualifications include:

Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Education, or a related field. A teaching qualification such as CELTA, DELTA, or TESOL is highly desirable.
Experience: At least two years of experience teaching English or assessing language learners. Familiarity with standardized testing systems is an advantage.
Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in English, with strong grammatical accuracy and excellent listening skills.
Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on subtle aspects of spoken language and maintain objectivity across diverse candidate backgrounds.
Interpersonal Skills: Patience, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism in interacting with candidates and colleagues.
