The Role & Responsibilities
As a Japanese Language Lecturer, you will be central to shaping students’ linguistic abilities while sharing the cultural nuances essential to communicating effectively.
- Design and deliver tailored lessons: Develop lesson plans covering grammar, conversation, reading, and writing, ensuring they align with student proficiency and learning goals.
- Create an immersive learning environment: Foster a classroom atmosphere that encourages practice, supports error-friendly learning, and brings Japanese culture to life through interactive materials and discussions.
- Assess and track progress: Use both formative and summative assessments—such as quizzes, oral presentations, and written assignments—to monitor growth and adapt teaching strategies.
- Offer constructive feedback and support: Guide students individually and in groups to build confidence, helping them understand mistakes and improve pronunciation, grammar, and comprehension.

Qualifications
We’re seeking a candidate who brings both linguistic mastery and teaching finesse:
- Proficiency in Japanese (preferably JLPT N2 or N1): You possess strong linguistic skills, which translate into effective teaching practice.
- Prior teaching experience: Whether in higher education or language institutes, this experience enables you to manage diverse learner needs and classroom dynamics.
- Cultural literacy: A deep appreciation of Japanese customs, etiquette, and contemporary usage helps students learn context, not just vocabulary.
- Effective communication in English and possibly Sinhala or Tamil: These skills help you explain concepts clearly and nurture strong teacher–student rapport.
