Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant

Location: Somerset / Wiltshire (Home-based / Bristol Region) Salary: £43,000 – £45,000 (OTE £45,000 – £55,000+) Hours: 08:00 – 16:30 (Paid overtime before and after shift)

The Opportunity

Take the next step in your career with a globally recognized heavy equipment manufacturer. We are looking for a home-based Field Service Engineer to support critical construction and quarry operations across the Bristol region.

You’ll take full ownership of your day, traveling directly from home to customer sites to maintain high-value plant machinery. Joining a specialist nationwide team of just 12 engineers, you’ll enjoy a close-knit, supportive environment where your expertise is genuinely valued.

The Role

  • Technical Excellence: Diagnose, service, and repair heavy plant equipment across electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

  • Autonomy: Manage your own daily workload, typically handling 1–3 jobs depending on complexity.

  • Site Engagement: Visit diverse locations including quarries, infrastructure projects, and major construction sites.

  • Standards: Maintain impeccable safety and customer service levels at all times.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering (or equivalent) and a valid CSCS Card.

  • Expertise: Proven experience in fault-finding and maintenance of hydraulics and mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Mobility: Full UK Driving Licence and a willingness for occasional overnight stays.

  • Independence: Comfortable working solo in a field-based capacity.

  • Bonus Points: A Quarry Passport or HS2 Site Card is desirable but not essential.
