Join the Bristol Robotic Services (BRS) team, a specialized unit within GE Aerospace focused on high-reliability, AI-driven aerospace applications. We are a tight-knit team of 40 innovators solving complex challenges in one of the UK’s primary robotics hubs. The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will develop backend solutions and manage the DevOps infrastructure that powers our robotic systems. You will balance academic rigor with hands-on implementation to create robust, production-grade software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Backend Development: Write maintainable, high-performance code using Python and implement RESTful APIs (FastAPI).

  • DevOps & Infrastructure: Manage CI/CD pipelines and cloud services using GitHub Actions, AWS (S3, Lambda, EKS, API Gateway), and IaC tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.

  • Testing & Quality: Implement and maintain automated testing suites to ensure system reliability.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse engineering team to navigate the full product development lifecycle.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.

  • Python Expertise: Strong programming skills with a focus on object-oriented paradigms.

  • DevOps Knowledge: Experience with Docker, containerization, and AWS services.

  • Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Batch scripts, and Windows packaging tools (MSIX).

  • Communication: Ability to translate complex technical problems into clear solutions for cross-functional stakeholders.

Desired Characteristics

  • An active interest in robotics or system integration.

  • Experience with robotic offline programming (e.g., Siemens NX, Fanuc Roboguide).

  • A self-motivated approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
