The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurses (RNC) to join our dedicated team in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Our HDU is a purpose-built, 4-bedded unit providing specialized care for patients aged 0–16. We manage both elective and emergency admissions across all specialties, serving as a vital “step-up” unit with strong collaborative links to the Paediatric Intensive Care Units in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Candidate
We are seeking motivated nurses who are passionate about critical care. To be successful, you should have:

Registration: Current RNC registration.

Experience: Completion of a new graduate programme (or equivalent) and significant relevant nursing experience.

Specialized Skills: Previous experience within a High Dependency or Critical Care setting is highly advantageous.

Mindset: An enthusiastic, team-oriented approach to providing high-quality paediatric care.
Working Hours & Pay
In line with the Agenda for Change update (effective 1 April 2026), the full-time working week is now 36 hours. Please note that hourly rates have been adjusted upward to ensure that total take-home pay remains unaffected by this reduction in hours.
