School Nurse / Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)

Hours: Permanent | 36 Hours per Week (Monday – Friday)


The Role

NHS Ayrshire and Arran are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Children and Families Health Team. In this vital role, you will work in partnership with children, young people, and families to identify health needs and deliver targeted interventions.

Guided by the refocused School Nursing Pathways, you will manage a caseload and collaborate with multi-agency partners to support vulnerable groups within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Caseload Management: Take accountability for school nurse activities and delegated tasks.

  • Partnership Working: Collaborate with families and external agencies to support child health and wellbeing.

  • Intervention Delivery: Provide essential health support to a vulnerable client group.

  • Professionalism: Maintain a culture that is Caring, Safe, and Respectful.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: First-level Registered Nurse educated to degree level.

  • Specialism: A SCPHN (Schools) qualification is preferred. However, we welcome applications from candidates willing to undertake the SCPHN course while in employment.

  • Skills: Strong communication and IT skills are essential, along with evidence of continuing professional development.

  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of Child Protection and experience in care is highly desirable.

  • Legal: A full UK Driving Licence and PVG Scheme membership are required.
