Key Duties
The Human Resources Director provides strategic and operational leadership across all HR functions for both certified and non-certified staff. Core responsibilities include:
- Leading staffing efforts, including recruitment, onboarding, certification tracking, and contract administration.
- Overseeing payroll, benefits administration, and employee wellness programs.
- Managing employee performance evaluation systems in collaboration with department leaders.
- Supporting administrators and supervisors in staff management, training, and problem resolution.
- Coordinating substitute teacher and paraeducator coverage to maintain effective staffing levels.
- Leading collective bargaining negotiations and employee relations, including investigations and grievance resolution.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal labor laws while monitoring changes in legislation.
- Maintaining HR records, completing mandatory state reports, and managing HR databases.
- Developing and monitoring compensation and benefits strategies in partnership with leadership.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates should bring a strong background in HR management along with the following:
- Experience: At least 7 years in human resources, payroll, or employee benefits. Prior experience in a school district or public sector environment is highly valued.
- Education: High school diploma required; a degree in business, public administration, or human resources is preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage sensitive information confidentially; proficiency with HR and payroll systems (e.g., Frontline, Munis, Google Workspace, MS Office).
- Additional: Solid budget management abilities, problem-solving skills, and adaptability to evolving organizational needs.
