The Role & Responsibilities

As a Bookkeeper at Goodwork, you will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring smooth operations for Australian clients. This is not just about data entry—it’s about being an integral part of the financial process and offering insights that help clients make smarter business decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Timesheet Billing
    Manage the collection, review, and processing of staff timesheets, ensuring accurate invoicing for clients. This requires close attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct discrepancies quickly.
  • Bookkeeping & Reconciliation
    Record daily financial transactions and reconcile accounts across multiple platforms (MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks). By doing so, you’ll ensure that records remain up to date and align with client reporting standards.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
    Support the timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts while monitoring outstanding balances. This helps maintain strong financial health and avoids unnecessary delays in client operations.
  • Payroll Support
    Assist in preparing payroll by verifying timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring compliance with Australian payroll regulations.
  • Financial Reporting
    Generate and present clear monthly reports that highlight trends, expenses, and forecasts, giving clients valuable insights into their financial performance.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who bring both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills.

  • Educational Background
    A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field ensures a strong foundation for understanding core principles.
  • Software Proficiency
    Hands-on experience with MYOB, Xero, and QuickBooks is essential, as these are the platforms you’ll use daily to manage financial records and reporting.
  • Experience
    At least 2–3 years in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably with international or remote teams, to demonstrate your ability to adapt to cross-border financial systems.
  • Attention to Detail
    Beyond numbers, this role requires a meticulous eye for spotting errors, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Communication Skills
    Since you’ll collaborate remotely with Australian clients and teams, excellent English communication skills—both written and verbal—are necessary for clarity and efficiency.
