About the Company
Bridge Health, headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a forward-thinking health-tech organization on a mission to make healthcare more equitable, proactive, and accessible—particularly in rural and under-served areas. Our vision is to reimagine healthcare delivery using smart diagnostics, seamless connectivity, and preventive care models. We combine multidisciplinary expertise—from engineers to doctors—to break down barriers to quality healthcare. Based in Colombo, we foster a culture rooted in empathy, innovation, and community impact. Colleagues describe our environment as collaborative and mission-driven, with opportunities to influence real-world outcomes.
The Role & Responsibilities
As a Instrumentation Engineer, you will:
- Design, calibrate, and maintain diagnostic hardware and sensor systems
You’ll ensure our smart diagnostic devices operate reliably under varied environmental and usage conditions across rural networks. - Collaborate with software and clinical teams
Work closely with developers and healthcare professionals to integrate instrumentation data with tele-diagnostic platforms and ensure seamless, interoperable systems. - Perform field testing and commissioning
Deploy hardware prototypes, monitor performance in real-world settings, troubleshoot issues on site, and provide feedback loops to R&D. - Develop and document technical standards
Establish calibration routines, test protocols, and maintenance procedures that uphold device accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance. - Support training and user guidance
Prepare simple, effective guides and train local healthcare workers or field teams to use and maintain instrumentation equipment confidently.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Degree in instrumentation, biomedical, electrical, or electronic engineering
Ideally with coursework or project experience in sensors, embedded systems, or medical device development. - Hands-on experience with sensors, data acquisition systems, and calibration tools
You should be comfortable using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and related instrumentation, and interpreting sensor data under diverse conditions. - Familiarity with medical or health-tech standards
Even if not formally certified, familiarity with healthcare technology workflows or regulatory approaches helps ensure our devices meet stakeholder expectations in safety and performance. - Field deployment or remote support experience
You’ve either deployed hardware outdoors or in remote settings, or worked in roles that required adaptability, problem solving on the go, and communication with non-technical users. - Strong documentation and communication skills
You should be able to translate complex technical procedures into clear, user-friendly formats for training or field manuals.
What We’re Looking For
Beyond qualifications, our ideal candidate also brings:
- A human-centric mindset
You empathize deeply with end-users—often healthcare workers in rural settings—and design solutions that respect their constraints and workflow. - Proactive problem-solving
You anticipate issues before they arise, propose improvements, and take ownership of solutions from design through to in-field use. - Adaptability and resourcefulness
You thrive in environments where requirements evolve quickly, and resource constraints necessitate creativity. - Collaborative spirit
You enjoy interdisciplinary teamwork—working with clinicians, software developers, and local partners—to build cohesive, impactful products.
Why Join Us
Bridge Health offers a unique opportunity to meaningfully impact healthcare delivery across Sri Lanka. As part of our team, you will:
- Work at the intersection of engineering and public health, contributing to life-changing diagnostic solutions.
- Operate within a supportive, mission-driven culture that values empathy, innovation, and grassroots connectivity.
- Gain hands-on exposure to the full device lifecycle—from design and calibration to deployment and user training.
- Enjoy flexible, part-time work that balances professional engagement with personal commitments.
- Be part of a small, passionate team where your ideas and efforts translate directly into real-world health improvements.
