Commercial Finance Manager (Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery)

Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + performance bonus & comprehensive benefits

The Role

SSE Renewables is looking for a strategic Commercial Finance Manager to partner with our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery (OWSB) business. You will focus on the diverse cost base for all operational assets across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will be the “face of finance” for the business, driving performance improvement, providing high-level business insights, and leading long-term strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Insight: Report and analyze operational costs, ensuring accurate Management Information (MI) is available for critical decision-making.

  • Planning & Forecasting: Lead the delivery of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and 10-year strategic plans, providing constructive challenge to ensure accuracy and alignment with SSE strategy.

  • Risk & Opportunity: Partner with Operational and Commercial teams (including Joint Ventures) to identify financial risks and opportunities, calculating sensitivities to inform business plans.

  • Efficiency Projects: Build a deep understanding of the OWSB cost base to lead business improvement and cost-efficiency initiatives.

  • Strategic Support: Contribute to broader business projects and ad-hoc analysis as required by the OWSB directorate.

About You

We are looking for a qualified professional with a talent for influencing senior stakeholders and simplifying complex data. Ideally, you bring:

  • Experience: 2–4 years post-qualified experience in a Business Partnering, Finance Manager, or Management Accountant role.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong financial modelling capabilities and the ability to turn multiple data sources into meaningful recommendations.

  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage with senior leaders, embed financial understanding across the business, and challenge the status quo constructively.
