Consultant Stroke Physician

Location: South of England (NHS District General Hospital) Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience/grade) Type: Full-time (1:6 On-call Rota)

The Opportunity

An established NHS District General Hospital in the beautiful South of England is seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician. Joining a dedicated team of four consultants and a robust group of middle-grade doctors, you will play a pivotal role in delivering excellence in acute stroke care, TIA services, and rehabilitation.

We welcome applications from both UK-based and international doctors. Candidates with European Specialist status or MRCP are highly encouraged to apply.

Portfolio Support (formerly CESR): The department is committed to professional growth; support for those pursuing the portfolio pathway can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence: Provide comprehensive care, including acute inpatient management, thrombolysis decision-making, and long-term rehabilitation.
Specialist Clinics: Lead TIA and stroke prevention clinics, focusing on rapid assessment and secondary prevention.
Acute Rota: Participate in the 1:6 acute stroke rota, including thrombolysis on-call and weekend ward rounds.
MDT Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of specialist nurses, therapists, and radiologists to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Requirements

Education: MBBS or equivalent.
Experience: Extensive background in General (Internal) Medicine and Stroke Medicine.
Interests: A clear passion for stroke care, rehabilitation, or TIA services.
