Consultant Neurosurgeon – Medico-Legal Expert

Location: Priority coverage in London, Birmingham, and Manchester (Face-to-face & Remote) Remuneration: £200–£250 per hour | £400–£450 per Fast Track assessment

The Opportunity

We are proud to partner with a well-established medico-legal reporting organization that supports solicitors, insurers, and medical agencies across the UK. Specializing primarily in personal injury and RTA cases, the organization also handles complex claims involving clinical negligence, criminal law, and immigration.

We are currently seeking experienced Consultant Neurosurgeons to join an expert panel, providing independent assessments and high-quality medico-legal reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review & Analyze: Evaluate detailed instruction letters and pertinent medical records.

  • Assessments: Conduct thorough face-to-face (and occasional remote) patient examinations.

  • Reporting: Complete structured medico-legal reports within fast-track and complex case frameworks.

  • Collaboration: Work alongside a dedicated support team to ensure clinical accuracy.

Workload & Flexibility

This role is designed to fit around your existing commitments, offering a flexible volume of work based on your availability.

  • Average time per case: 2 hours (1 hour for assessment + 1 hour for report completion).

  • Drafting Support: Medical secretaries are provided to assist with drafting, significantly reducing your administrative burden.

Requirements

  • Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurosurgery.

  • Current or previous experience as an NHS Consultant.

  • Prior medico-legal experience is preferred but not essential; we welcome consultants looking to enter this field.

Remuneration & Support

  • Competitive Pay: £400–£450 per assessment for fast-track cases.
