The Opportunity
During a period of sustained growth, Dowty Propellers has an exciting opening for a Controls Systems Engineer to join our onsite team near Gloucester. Working within a multi-disciplined engineering group, you will support high-profile projects ranging from new applications to in-service product support, ensuring all customer requirements are met regarding quality, cost, and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities

System Design: Define requirements for propeller control systems within ARP4754 and ARP4761 frameworks.

Performance Analysis: Use simulation environments to analyze control systems integrating propeller, engine, and airframe elements.

Project Leadership: Lead technical activities within integrated project teams and mentor junior engineers.

Supplier Management: Create technical requirements for subcontracted units and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and customers.

Strategic Planning: Oversee project scope, budgeting, and scheduling while proactively managing risks to customer deliverables.

Continuous Improvement: Develop and own technical work instructions and control system processes.

Travel: Occasional overseas travel may be required for integration, testing, and certification.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
-
Education: BSc in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Design Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience: Background in aerospace or automotive control systems, embedded systems, or safety-critical solutions.

Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Matlab, Simulink, and DOORS requirements management.

Standards: Working knowledge of ARP4754 and ARP4761.

Problem Solving: A proven track record of resolving complex technical challenges in high-integrity environments.
Desired:

Experience with rotating machinery control or hydraulic system design.

Knowledge of electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical actuation.
