Graduate Digital Intelligence Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Gloucester (Hybrid: 3–5 days on-site) Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

The Role

Kickstart your career with the BAE Systems Digital Intelligence team. As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will tackle complex challenges, master diverse programming languages, and develop high-performance technical solutions. We are looking for adaptable graduates with strong coding fundamentals and a genuine passion for innovative technology.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will work across cloud, data, and software domains to design and optimize cutting-edge systems. Key responsibilities include:

• Development: Utilizing modern C++ (C++23+) for high-performance systems and Python for versatile application development.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Working with Containers, Kubernetes, and Docker to build scalable solutions.

• Data Processing: Leveraging Spark for data tasks and mastering serialization technologies like Flatbuffers/Protobuf.

• System Admin: Gaining expertise in Linux & Bash administration and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.

• Version Control: Using GitLab to manage source control within a collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Education: A 2:2 or higher (obtained or predicted) in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM subject.

• Technical Interest: A strong foundation in C++, Python, and Linux/Bash.

• Mindset: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act as a versatile consultant for complex projects.
