Role Overview

Location: Corporate H/O – 13th Floor, Dialog Axiata PLC

Job Purpose: The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for conceptualizing, building, and scaling advanced AI, ML, and Generative AI products and solutions. This role oversees the entire solution lifecycle management to ensure the commercial success of Group Analytics and AI initiatives.

As a strategic leader, you will drive technical roadmaps, lead cross-functional delivery teams, and directly contribute to increasing Group revenue, reducing costs, and meeting EBITDA targets. Additionally, you will be responsible for hiring, grooming, and mentoring a high-performing team of Data Scientists.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Value Creation

  • Architect Solutions: Lead and drive end-to-end architectures, technical roadmaps, and disruptive strategies for enterprise AI solutions.

  • Financial Impact: Directly contribute to expanding Group revenue, optimizing internal operational productivity, and hitting EBITDA milestones through targeted AI and Analytics use cases.

  • Team Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and guide the Data Science team to ensure continuous skill development, rigorous data quality, and timely model delivery.

  • Talent Management: Oversee resource planning, onboarding, and allocation across various analytics projects.

Lifecycle Management & Delivery

  • End-to-End Ownership: Take full accountability for the complete AI lifecycle—from initial planning and scoping to architecture, deployment, and long-term maintenance.

  • Feasibility & Validation: Handle initial use case scoping, business validation, and rigorous feasibility testing.

  • Advanced Modeling: Design and execute statistical, machine learning, and Gen AI/Agentic AI-based solutions utilizing the most effective technology stacks.

  • Research & Experimentation: Empower the engineering team to build new knowledge bases by researching emerging tools and conducting iterative experiments to solve complex problems.

Integration & Scalability

  • Scale Deployment: Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to successfully deploy and integrate AI/ML models into downstream enterprise systems at scale.

  • App Development Alignment: Partner closely with AI application development teams to ensure high-performing front-end and back-end applications are built efficiently.

  • Performance Monitoring: Establish continuous performance tracking and MLOps mechanisms to ensure models remain accurate and operate smoothly over time.

  • Ethical AI Governance: Embed strict ethical AI principles, model transparency, and explainability into all development and deployment frameworks.

Entry Requirements

The Person

  • Educational Background: * Bachelor’s Degree in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

    • Master’s Degree in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Experience: 8+ years of proven experience in the field of Data Science—encompassing Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI framework delivery—is highly advantageous.

  • Leadership Credential: Demonstrated track record of successfully managing Data Science teams delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions at scale.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Core Analytics: Strong, foundational understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical techniques, and data engineering across data warehouses, big data ecosystems, or cloud environments.

  • Programming & Cloud: Expert-level, hands-on experience in Python, R, or equivalent data science tools, alongside practical experience operating within major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • AI Innovation: Deep hands-on experience working with modern Generative AI and Agentic AI technology stacks.

  • Business Acumen & Soft Skills: Robust business understanding, agile and results-driven leadership capabilities, outstanding data visualization skills, and a strong passion for continuous learning.
