Role Overview

Are you a data enthusiast with a passion for building scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and managing data to enable data-driven decision-making? Dialog Axiata PLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Group Analytics and AI division. In this role, you will play a key part in managing enterprise data management platforms and delivering high-quality data to enhance insights and drive business impact.

Key Responsibilities

ETL Operations & Platform Management

  • Pipeline Management: Manage ETL operations on big data platforms ($\text{AWS Athena}$, $\text{AWS S3}$, $\text{Snowflake}$), ensuring high data accuracy and strict SLA adherence.

  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex data load issues while collaborating closely with data source owners and external vendors for technical support.

  • Platform Support: Support the company’s enterprise data management platform and train internal staff on operational best practices.

Data Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Data Quality Rules: Investigate complex data structures, understand business requirements, and develop SQL-based Data Quality Rules to implement in Data Quality platforms (e.g., $\text{Collibra}$).

  • Root Cause Analysis: Manage and troubleshoot Data Lineage and perform root cause analysis (RCA) on core data issues.

  • Data Documentation: Maintain, support, and report on the progress of Business Glossaries and Data Dictionaries utilizing the centralized data management platform.

Development & Automation

  • Visualization: Develop production-grade $\text{Tableau}$ data sources and interactive dashboards adhering to industry design standards.

  • Cloud Integrations: Develop serverless components on $\text{AWS Lambda}$ to integrate with various APIs for automated data extraction and loading.

  • Database Programming: Build robust stored procedures, data pipelines, and optimized data extractions within $\text{Snowflake}$.

  • Orchestration: Develop and configure $\text{Apache Airflow}$ DAGs to automate third-party data quality job executions and workflows.

  • Research & Development: Engage in proactive R&D initiatives to stay aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies to deliver innovative data solutions.

Entry Requirements

Educational & Professional Background

  • Degree: BSc Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.

  • Value-Add Certifications: Professional certifications in Linux, Oracle, Data Warehousing, BI Tools, Cloud Platforms ($\text{AWS}$/$\text{Snowflake}$), or Machine Learning will be considered a distinct advantage.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 2–4 years of direct experience in database management, ETL development, and data pipeline engineering using $\text{Scala}$, $\text{Java}$, $\text{Python}$, or open-source tools.

  • Database Depth: Deep experience working with relational databases ($\text{RDBMS}$), Data Warehouses, $\text{NoSQL}$, or big data technologies, coupled with strong $\text{SQL}$ scripting skills ($\text{PL/SQL}$, $\text{T-SQL}$).

  • BI Tools: Strong proficiency in advanced $\text{Tableau}$ dashboard development.

  • Systems Administration: Practical knowledge of Linux shell scripting ($\text{Bash}$) and basic system administration.

  • Domain Core: A solid understanding of data quality principles, metadata management, data architecture, and modern data management systems.
