Senior Engineer – Network (IT Infrastructure Planning and Operations)

Job Purpose: We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure Planning and Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Dialog Data Centre networks are thoroughly safeguarded against internal and external security threats. This role involves identifying areas for improvement within our current network infrastructure and developing a clear roadmap to enhance operational efficiency and robustness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong professional work ethic and the ability to identify critical problems, weaknesses, and bottlenecks in a production network while providing definitive recommendations for remediation.
Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture, Implementation & Security

Solution Design: Design and implement Data Centre and user network solutions optimized for maximum network security.

Infrastructure Management: Manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, proxy systems, wireless networks, load balancers, IPS, and Network Access Control (NAC) infrastructure, alongside operational and InfoSec-related scopes for Web Application Firewalls (WAF).

Next-Gen Architecture: Oversee operational and information security aspects of new IT Data Centre architecture, including Software-Defined Networking (SDN) operations.

Uptime Maintenance: Manage L2/L3 switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure to consistently maintain a 99.9% uptime standard.

Connectivity & Integration: Facilitate new deployments for securely exposing Dialog resources and systems to external parties via VPN, wireless configurations, WAF, and other protected network connectivity methods.
Operations, Troubleshooting & Optimization

24×7 Support: Deliver round-the-clock operational support, troubleshooting, and rapid solution implementation for network and security incidents.

Access Management: Provision day-to-day network access requirements and manage device configurations for Data Centre environments and end-users.

Legacy Migration: Migrate non-SDN networks from legacy Data Centres to modern, SDN-capable network infrastructure.

Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize network architecture to continuously enhance performance, capacity, and reliability in line with evolving requirements.

Threat Mitigation: Identify common network threats, troubleshoot complex security breaches, and execute effective remediation strategies while staying current on emerging security trends.
Analysis, Governance & Project Management

Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct detailed RCAs and recommend preventative actions using enterprise monitoring tools (experience with AppDynamics, ManageEngine, Ops Manager, and Oracle Enterprise Manager is required).

Application Consulting: Provide expert technical advice to address network-layer architectural weaknesses in in-house developed corporate applications.

Capacity Planning: Perform detailed capacity planning and impact analysis on the production network during site migrations, hardware lifecycle replacements, and major upgrades.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with infrastructure support teams, DBAs, and System Administrators to identify infrastructure gaps and implement improvements.

Project Leadership: Act as the Project Manager for active/passive network initiatives executed by the IT Network team, ensuring successful delivery against project timelines.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date network documentation and configuration maps. Lead update sessions to keep stakeholders informed of technical changes and new technologies.
Entry Requirements
Educational & Professional Credentials

Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Network Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university.

Certifications: Relevant industry network/security certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent credentials).
Experience & Skills

Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience in a similar network engineering or operations role.

Industry Domain: Functional knowledge of the telecommunications sector and enterprise data center environments.

Technical Depth: Solid understanding of network security developments, modern architecture deployment, and diverse connectivity methods.

Core Attributes: A fast learner with a proven ability to adapt swiftly to a dynamic, high-pressure working environment.
