Role Objective

The primary objective of this position is to effectively manage engineering services within statutory and organizational guidelines. This includes ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of all engineering activities, running operations, and routine/preventive maintenance. The role is responsible for maintaining engineering-related raw materials and spare parts to guarantee uninterrupted factory operations, while providing technical expertise, operational support, and seamless service delivery across all plant maintenance and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Utility Maintenance & Operational Continuity

• Uninterrupted Services: Maintain utility machinery to ensure continuous service delivery to the production plants.

• Equipment Optimization: Monitor and maintain equipment, machinery, and core engineering services in optimal condition to achieve maximum productivity within the Ice Cream Factory (ICF) and Soft Drinks Factory (SDF) production lines.

• Inventory Management: Oversee engineering-related raw materials, utility inputs, and engineering spare parts to support uninterrupted factory workflows.

Team Leadership & Financial Governance

• Resource Management: Lead and effectively manage the Engineering Workshop team, Shift Roster duty teams, and Engineering Stores personnel.

• Budgetary Control: Monitor and manage Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Repairs & Maintenance (R&M) utilization strictly within approved annual budgetary limits.

Compliance, Quality & Safety

• ISO Maintenance: Take direct responsibility for maintaining applicable ISO standards—including QMS, FSMS, EMS, and OHSMS—within respective engineering zones.

• Audit Readiness: Target zero major non-conformities during periodic internal and external audits.

• Standards Adherence: Ensure all engineering service deliveries strictly comply with organizational policies, industry benchmarks, and statutory regulatory standards.

Documentation & Process Improvement

• Technical Reporting: Prepare and maintain precise technical reports, asset service records, compliance documents, annual forecasts, and Mid-Year Reviews for CAPEX and R&M.

• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance mechanical tools, engineering processes, and overall service quality.

Person Specifications

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from a recognized institution.

• Work Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a similar engineering capacity within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.

• Industry Acumen: Sound business understanding of standard trade practices within a factory environment or FMCG landscape.

• Technical Expertise: Robust operational knowledge of the running and preventive maintenance of utility machinery, project management frameworks, engineering drawing interpretations, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation.

• Safety & Security: Deep understanding of the safe operation of industrial equipment, prioritizing the absolute safety of employees and manufacturing facilities.

• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills, with a strong commitment to internal customer satisfaction.

• Execution & Drive: Ability to respond promptly to operational breakdowns, follow up effectively, manage tasks under strict timelines, and work long hours when required.
