Job Purpose

Dialog Axiata PLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented legal professional to join our Group Legal and Regulatory team. Working at the active intersection of law, technology, and telecommunications, the Senior Legal Officer – Contracts will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, renewing, and drafting agreements for the Dialog Group.

This role is crucial in safeguarding the commercial interests of both the Dialog Group and Axiata Group Berhad, ensuring strict compliance with statutory regulations, and embedding robust risk safeguards across all executed corporate agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting, Negotiation & Lifecycle Management

Drafting Excellence: Review and draft commercial contracts with high clarity to minimize potential future disputes and ensure all counterparty requirements are accurately captured.
End-to-End Lifecycle: Support the complete contract lifecycle, including drafting, formal execution, amendments, and renewals, while strictly following internal legal workflows.
Enforceability & Sign-Off: Oversee the execution of documents to guarantee they are valid and legally binding; coordinate necessary board approvals and ensure execution by authorized corporate signatories.
Digital Workflows: Utilize and contribute to the optimization of the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system and employ electronic signature platforms like Adobe Sign.
Template Governance: Maintain and update standardized contract templates, specialized clause libraries, and overall documentation standards.

Legal Advisory & Dispute Resolution

Strategic Advisory: Provide authoritative legal counsel to internal stakeholders to ensure business operations align seamlessly with statutory and regulatory mandates.
Dispute Mitigation: Identify and resolve contract-related disputes by interpreting provisions, engaging counterparties, and collaborating with external legal counsel when necessary.
Management Reporting: Synthesize complex legal variables and prepare necessary details to facilitate executive management review and strategic decision-making.

Risk, Compliance & Specializations

Technology Agreements: Draft and review specialized technology contracts, including SaaS, IT procurement, and digital services agreements.
Risk Safeguards: Integrate robust safeguards into all contracts, specifically addressing data protection, information security, risk mitigation, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC) metrics.
Corporate Alignment: Balance individual process-owner needs with the Group’s broader business objectives, while strictly upholding the Corporate Values and Ethics of the Axiata Group.

Entry Requirements

Educational & Professional Credentials

Required: A recognized Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a reputable university and a qualified Attorney-at-Law.
Preferred: Relevant postgraduate qualifications will be considered an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in relevant commercial legal fields.

Functional Knowledge & Skills

Legal Domain Depth: Strong foundational knowledge of commercial/business law, contracts, sale of goods, immovable property, intellectual property, e-commerce, and employment law.
Tech & Privacy Savvy: Working knowledge of tech-related contracts (SaaS/IT) and a solid understanding of data protection and privacy laws.
Procedural Awareness: Familiarity with civil, criminal, administrative, and judicial procedures, alongside litigation fundamentals, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and telecom-specific regulations.
Interpersonal Attributes: Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and the capacity to balance multiple competing deadlines as a collaborative team player.
