Job Overview

This strategic role offers the opportunity to shape the Company’s long-term direction by strengthening legal governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risk, and supporting sustainable growth within a dynamic and evolving financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to all matters related to court work including drafting legal documents and appearing in courts.

  • Examination / verification of title to properties.

  • Preparation and execution of Mortgage Bonds and other related deeds / agreements pertaining to Commercial / Corporate Lending.

  • Draft other required security documentation in relation to the company’s lending.

  • Strict adherence to internal rules and regulations and regulatory compliance.

The Person (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Professional Credentials: Be an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and a Notary Public with a Notarial License to practice in the Judicial Zone of Colombo in English/Sinhala Language.

  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 15 – 20 years’ experience in Legal Practice, with at least 10 years in a financial institute or Commercial Banking sector.

  • Education: Possess a Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) will be an added qualification.

  • Knowledge Base: Possess a sound knowledge of statutes and laws, particularly in relation to banking and finance law.

  • Skills: Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills in both English and Sinhala languages.
