Senior Network Development Manager

The Role
As SSEN Transmission grows at pace, our Network Development Team is looking for a Senior Network Development Manager to help shape the future of the electricity grid. This is a pivotal role focused on the early development of network reinforcement projects, ensuring that future energy demand and generation growth are planned and delivered effectively.
You will bridge the gap between strategic planning and regional project delivery, turning high-level needs into well-defined, deliverable investments that support a secure, low-carbon energy system.
Key Responsibilities

Network Design: Lead the development of design concepts within Area System Plans, accounting for onshore/offshore connections, asset renewals, and local constraints.

Project Coordination: Support LCP Development teams in managing interdependent network reinforcements and conducting feasibility assessments for new technologies.

Stakeholder Management: Build enduring relationships with internal teams, NESO, consultants, and developers to ensure sustainable project growth.

Strategic Prioritization: Collaborate with the Network Development Manager to set regional priorities and drive projects from the opportunity phase to successful outcomes.

Leadership: Work independently to steer multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring multiple project outputs meet regulatory requirements and Needs Case deadlines.
Requirements

Qualifications: A degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with a deep understanding of electrical networks and the transmission business.

Experience: Proven leadership in infrastructure project development, specifically during the optioneering and initial design phases.

Communication: Ability to translate complex technical details into clear presentations for non-technical stakeholders and senior management.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with CDM 2015, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and relevant environmental legislation.
