Senior Vice President – Global Transaction Banking

Role Overview

This role is responsible for leading and managing the Bank’s Global Transaction Banking division, encompassing Trade, Custody, Trustee Services, and Transaction Banking. The position is pivotal in driving the Bank’s strategy to deliver tailored financial solutions that meet the complex needs of institutional clients, large corporations, and emerging businesses across various geographies.

Furthermore, this role plays a critical part in driving the growth, profitability, and risk management of the Global Transaction Banking portfolio, while fostering strong client relationships and expanding the Bank’s market presence. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring greater synergy across all Global Transaction Banking Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and other Business Units (BUs) of the Bank, ensuring that the Bank remains competitive and responsive to the evolving demands of the global transaction banking market in alignment with relevant laws, regulations, standards, and the Bank’s business objectives and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Strategy Design: Design the overall strategy, objectives, and short-term and long-term goals for the Global Transaction Banking business in alignment with HNB’s broader corporate strategy.

  • Portfolio Growth: Drive the growth of the product and service portfolio across SBU offerings to position the Bank as a leader in Global Transaction Banking, with a strong focus on differentiation and value creation.

  • Business Development: Lead business development efforts across Global Transaction Banking, including Trade, Custody and Trustee, and Transaction Banking, by identifying and capitalizing on emerging market opportunities.

  • Segment Growth: Drive the growth of the Transaction Banking segment by offering tailored financial solutions and strengthening corporate client relationships.

  • Culture & Performance: Promote the organization’s culture across the team to ensure alignment with required behaviors, while instilling a culture of continuous development and high performance within the division.

Product & Operations Management

  • Trade Finance Delivery: Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive trade finance products, including letters of credit, guarantees, documentary collections, and supply chain finance.

  • Custody & Trustee Oversight: Oversee global custody and trustee services, ensuring the absolute safekeeping of clients’ assets and the timely execution of fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Client Engagement: Engage directly with top corporate clients and business groups at the promoter level to deepen existing institutional relationships.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Policy Enforcement: Establish and enforce robust policies, processes, and procedures to ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and risk management guidelines.

  • Process Optimization: Review and approve existing policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and the overall customer experience.

  • Credit Portfolio Management: Oversee credit portfolio management, ensuring effective credit assessments, continuous monitoring, and risk mitigation across all global transaction banking operations.

  • Governance Frameworks: Maintain strong governance frameworks, regularly reviewing risk exposure, transaction monitoring, and audit trails across all verticals.

Requirements & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • Required: A degree from a recognized university in the fields of banking, finance, business administration, or a related field.

  • Preferred: A Master’s Degree in banking, finance, business administration, or a related field will be considered an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of total experience in the banking or finance industry.

  • Must include at least 10 years of direct experience in global transaction banking.
