Trainee Agriculture Officer (Outsourced/Fixed Term Contract)

Job Role

The Trainee Agriculture Officer will assist the Agribusiness Unit in building strong client relationships, supporting Relationship Managers, and contributing directly to the growth of the Bank’s microfinance, SME, and emerging corporate portfolios. This role includes conducting regular field visits, collecting essential agricultural and financial data, and supporting the evaluation of agribusiness proposals—providing valuable hands-on exposure to agricultural lending and client engagement.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

Candidates must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

• A Degree in Agriculture from a recognized university.

• A Higher National Diploma in Agriculture (HNDT).

• A Diploma in Agriculture (NVQ Level 5 or above).

The Person (Eligibility & Key Traits)

Age & Primary Credentials

• Education Status: Must be a degree holder in Agriculture or a diploma holder (NVQ Level 5 and above).

• Age Limit: Below 30 years of age.

• Licensing: Should hold a valid driving license.

• Note: Passing the Intermediate in Applied Banking and Finance or holding a Diploma in Applied Banking and Finance from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka will be considered an added advantage.

Skills and Capabilities

• Mobility & Commitment: A strong commitment to field work and a genuine willingness to serve at our outstation Customer Centres.

• Autonomy & Mindset: Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, paired with strong interpersonal skills and a dedicated customer-service mindset.

• Technical Analytics: Good analytical and decision-making skills, with practical proficiency in MS Excel.

• Communication: Strong communication skills with the innate ability to effectively engage with the relevant agricultural customer segment.
