Key Duties
As the Assistant Manager – Cutting Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the cutting department. This includes monitoring processes, ensuring efficient use of resources, and working closely with production teams to meet timelines and delivery goals.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Planning manpower, machinery, and subcontracting needs in alignment with cutting schedules.
- Addressing bottlenecks, troubleshooting operational issues, and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Participating in pre-production and technical meetings to evaluate requirements and feasibility.
- Coordinating with the warehouse to secure fabric availability in line with loading plans.
- Implementing Lean practices, customer compliance standards, and continuous process improvements.
- Managing garment reject fallouts and overseeing corrective action processes.
- Ensuring proper packing, material readiness, and timely dispatch of cut panels to production plants.
- Monitoring budgets, controlling overheads, and ensuring operations remain cost-effective.
- Leading, motivating, and developing the cutting team through training and performance management.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within apparel or textile operations.
- A degree in Textile Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Strong technical expertise in garment cutting processes.
- Knowledge and practical experience in Lean practices.
- Excellent analytical abilities, leadership qualities, and effective communication skills.
