The Role & Responsibilities

As a Sales Assistant, you’ll be the friendly face of the store, delivering exceptional service that blends athletic style with customer delight.

Greet and engage customers proactively: Offer a welcoming environment by anticipating needs, sharing style suggestions, and making each visit feel personal.
Provide product knowledge and guidance: Stay up to date on current apparel, footwear, and accessory trends; explain fit, performance features, and coordinate matching items to help customers make confident selections.
Maintain visual standards and merchandising: Collaborate with your team to ensure displays reflect seasonal campaigns, brand guidelines, and store aesthetics, reinforcing the dynamic in-store experience JD Sports is known for
Handle transactions accurately and efficiently: Operate sales systems with care, ensuring customers check out smoothly, while also offering additional services like gift receipts or loyalty sign-ups as relevant.
Support inventory and stock rotation: Assist back-of-house with restocking, tagging, and organizing inventory to keep bestsellers readily available and back stock accessible.

Qualifications

Previous retail or customer service experience (ideally in fashion or sportswear): Even part-time roles count—your ability to connect with customers and manage fast-paced environments matters.
Strong communication skills in English (Sinhala or Tamil a plus): You’ll guide diverse customers through product choices—clear, warm explanations are vital.
Comfort with technology: Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or mobile inventory tools means you can handle transactions and restocking efficiently.
